Hi

I am not very familiar with how the forum works. My last post has been posted on the forum but with no reply. This is the first time this has happened. Does it mean it will not be replied to or do I just have to wait? I have been lucky enough to get a response almost immediately on previous posts. I really could do with some help with my previous post please.

For each of the activities the process follows the following, I am using my own numbering to indicate the order.

1. Can you complete the activity without problem? If so then indicate "no problem" and move to the next question.

3. If you have problems completing the activity, would an aid or appliance enable yo to do so, if it would then tick "yes" and explain why this is the case.

4. Would prompting, assistance or supervision help you to complete the activity? If it would then tick "yes" and why this is the case.

5. At this point you are saying that you cannot complete the activity even with the use of an aid or help from someone else. You need to explain why this is the case.

You must take the Descriptors as they are written, this means that it is not always a question of percentages or the number of days. So Descriptor (g) reads

g. Cannot wash and bathe at all and needs another person to wash their entire body.

The word "cannot" is an absolute, you may reasonably be able to argue that this does not mean "never" when applying "reliably" to it, but it will be taken as meaning far more than the "majority of days".

I can't give you a definition of how many days might be acceptable or not but I think you would need to show that you cannot wash or bathe at least six days a week for it to be accepted that you meet this Descriptor.

As to the other Descriptors, providing it is accepted that you meet the criteria then the one you that you have problems with on the majority of days should be the one selected.

Hi Jan, as you can see, Gordon has now answered your question. The fact that your message was published is an indication that one of the mods is dealing with it. Sometimes it can take a while to formulate the reply but you will get a reply as soon as the mod in question can manage.

Thank you both for your replies and for clarifying how the forum works.

Thank you Gordon for explaining further about the descriptors.

I am really struggling to understand how to answer this form with the conditions that I have and am feeling really overwhelmed and tearful so perhaps I had better leave it until tomorrow. I feel I am being asked to run a marathon when I can't even get off the starting blocks . It feels like having to produce a thesis because it is going to require so much detail to explain.

Sorry just feeling very low, frightened and so tired. Having the PIP assessment immediately following my ESA one is taking me way beyond my coping capacity.

Thank you for your help. I'll try to look at it again tomorrow.
