Hi Ive received a letter today from the DWP (not a Christmas card funnily enough) saying that my DLA is ending and that I now have to call them by 5th January to claim PIP. My question is where to start? What do I tell them in the phone call etc? Im nervous that I dont make a mess of it etc etc. Any help/guildance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The PIP Claim guide explains what is required during the phone call.

Hi Mikey, I got the same letter today & am as nervous & scared as you are

The initial phone call appears to be just basic personal info & is probably the easiest part of this 'journey' we're about to undertake.

My letter said I had to claim by 9th Jan so I intend to try to ignore it until Christmas is over then ring up, tell them I want to claim, arrange GP appointment & get on with evidence gathering.

Good luck !

Hi Mikey

I got the same letter last Friday 9th Dec. I phoned that day and they sent the form out. I received it yesterday 16th and am surprised that I have to get the form back by Monday 9th Jan, so I have 3 weeks to get it completed, which is going to be quite a struggle

Best wishes

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm afraid that other members who have tried to initiate their PIP claim by phone have had a lot of trouble getting the PIP1 form sent to them.

Although it grieves me to 'give in' to DWP, I must advise that, if you can possibly make the phone call, you should do so to avoid risk of running out of time.

If you have further questions, please will you start anew topic so that we do not get confused between the circumstances that apply to different posters.
