PIP result and MR was created by Harpy68
I have just received my pip result and the length of the award is good but the award was not what I was hoping for. I scored 12 for mobility (which I new was a done deal) and 11 for daily living. One of the descriptors I was sure to score points for ended up less than I hoped for. I'm unsure what to do next especially being so close, any advise would be welcome. .

It's something that only you can decide on. There is a small risk that if you challenge the Decision that you could lose points, it does not happen very often but it does happen.

How certain are you that you can score the extra point needed?

Do you have a copy of the assessment report? If not, contact the DWP office that is dealing with your claim and request a copy.

Go through your PIP2, our PIP Claim guide and either the assessment report or the DM's reasons for the Decision that should have accompanied the Decision Letter to see whether you have shown that you meet the criteria for the extra point(s).

Make sure that you have used "reliably" and "on the majority of days" as relevant and I would advise you to take the Descriptors as written.

If you want to pursue the matter then the first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.
