Mandatory Reconsideration was created by alicat
I was told I needed to receive my award letter before I can start MR, received the letter today. I have til January 15th to start the MR according to the DWP telephone person but does that include my extra evidence and reasons etc or is that to say i want to do it? Thanks!

The decision letter was actually hilarious. Apparently because I can drink sips of water from a bottle I have no issues with feeding myself or swallowing. I use a bottle because if I drop it I dont get soaked and just because I can swallow water doesnt mean I can swallow tablets or food. I thought when the letter came Id be in tears, I actually just laughed how wrong it all was.

You can either attach your detailed reasons to the MR request, or ask for a further four weeks from the date of your letter to send in your reasons, if you take the latter option then send the information as soon as you can, the DWP have a habit of their MR notice crossing in the post with the claimants evidence.

The assessor's report is usually delivered within a week or two - but you should expect it to take longer at this time of year!

If it has not arrived in time, do not delay submitting the MR request, just make a note that you will be sending in more info when you have seen it. DWP should then give you some extra time in which to get this to them (supposedly 4 weeks although we often see decisions made before this).
