ESA Deductions From Half Pay was created by DexterJohn
Hi, just wondering if anyone could offer me some advice please. I work for local government and have been off sick for 8 months now. I am on half pay and am no longer entitled to SSP and am in the process of claiming ESA.
My employers have written to me and said I had to forward any award letter to them as soon as I receive it as they have been instructed to deduct ESA from any monies they pay me.
I don't understand I thought ESA was a benefit that was paid in addition to your salary in the way SSP is.
Thanks

It is down to the terms and conditions of your employment, if you have access to a union rep I would check with them.

Check with the Union as LA Human Resources will deduct ESA and any other benefit from pay, as Gordon stated it is dependent upon terms/conditions and length of employment.
LA will try and screw you if you do not keep an eye on it all, look in the purple book for info (Local Authority book)
