HELP please was created by Colin
Hello I wonder if any one can help please my husband had his pip face to face in febury (stressful need I say more)
Well he got the enhanced mobilty and care I also applied and recived caters allowance
He has kidney faliure , heart faliure , calciphlaxis, anemia , and is on Daily heamodalyis for 6 days a week 3 hours a day which I do at home with a nxt stage machine .

Well in this miraculous world my husband recived a kidney transplant 3 days a go the kidney not working yet and I spoke to the Doctors today who said his progress us very guarded but they hope it will wake up .
Niw today they have told me all the other problems Hubby has with heart calciphlaxis unable to walk far and many other problems will still stay the same all this kidney will do is stop him being on a machine and hopefully prolong his life as long term dailysis is not an ideal solution . This is his 2nd kidney the first from our daughter failed after years at that time we kept working so we have never been here before this year ia the 20 anniversary of his first transplant and because of the heart faliure and triple heart bypass he had Jan 2015 he was medical unfit for work febury was the first time we asked the state for help in 10 years . What I'm asking is when do I have to tell pip I'm no longer doing heamodalyis on him if this kidney works and are they likely to stop all our award I don't want to be a BENEFIT SCROUNGER just there's no way hubby is ever going to be up and mobile and it seems to me any compassion in this world is gone it's almost a dirty word he has worked all his life he is 58 no one will ever give him another job with his health complications not that he could hold one down either ! I'm terrified hubby in hospital with tubes coming from every area up to his eyeballs on pain releif and suddenly we are hit with another worry please I begging if anyone knows venue a little I would be so grateful for your input christmas is going to be a tough one with this hanging over us

The first thing is for you to wait until you know what is happening with the kidney.

If it is removes the need for dialysis then the next question is whether he scored points for Managing Treatments? If he did then you have no choice but to inform the DWP of the change. If he did not receive points for this activity then you need to consider whether his general health has improved and whether this impacts on any of the activities that he did score points for.

I'm afraid I cannot tell you that you do not need to inform the DWP, they treat almost all operations as restoring the claimant to full health, so failing to tell them will almost certainly count against you if there are any questions over his current award.

Reporting a change will result in a full reassessment of his claim, new PIP2 and likely a face to face. his current award will stay in place until a new Decision is made.

Thankyou Gordon I guess I will phone them Tue . Spoke to Colins consultant and professor in acute nephrolgy and the heart consultant today they all said Indeoendantly not restored to full health this kidney is simply dailysis with out a machine and the drugs he on and the impact they will have will make him less able to do things and the reason he was given the kidney was hus health was detonating faster than they had anticipated on the heamodalyis machine basically put in the meeting they had today machine = 3 years of life if we were lucky kidney 3/ to 5 years if we lucky and they all agreed to write reports to that fact .
Col on ITU at the moment feeling less than human but I think we will get there I would like to thank you Gordon and all the mods for all your hard work and dedication you are an amazing bunch of people happy Christmas from all of us to you with a huge thankyou x
