Tribunal adjourned - help!! was created by EDM
Hi Mods,
I have been awarded PIP at standard care and Mobility at higher rate on my reapplication after being invited to renew for the first time. This is the same as I was awarded last time after I went to Tribunal.

I again went through Madatory Reconsideration, as I feel I should be awarded higher rate care as well as mobility, which came out at the same points.

I got my Tribunal date and due to me getting mixed up I only realised when I was getting ready to go for the Tribunal that it had actually taken place the previous day!

I phoned and it was confirmed by letter that the Tribunal had adjourned. In the letter it also says they want medical records from my GP and absences from my work, both for the past 3 years. I don't mind them obtaining this information.

What is concerning me us that the letter recommends that I should consider seeking representation. Is this because they don't believe what I have written? Am I getting into trouble? Is this normal? With all the stress of this and with my absence from work I really feel like drawing my head back into my shell. I don't want to land myself into trouble. Could I just write and say I want to withdraw from the appeal? What do you think this recommendation means?

Thanks in advance for your help.

It may be a standard letter.

If there is no specific reference to the panel having concerns over your current award then you should treat it as a recommendation rather than a necessity.

If you want to see if you can get some help then do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.

Confidential please for this info, can you just post your response? - I'm a bit wary of posting anything the DWP could trace back to me.

I don't see an explicit warning and the issues they raise are not unusual for a Tribunal.

Many claimants lack up to date medical information, it's a situation that Tribunal panels are used to dealing with.
