I have a special guardianship order for a 16 yr old boy . We are currently going though the process of transferring over to PIP
Interview 45 miles away, ha I g to travel by train at 7.30 due to me not driving . This is our second appointment the first was cancelled due to him being unwell.
R has developmental delay
Dyspraxia
Mild cerebral palsy
Anxiety issues that put himself and others at risk
I've been ill for the last two weeks. I have an appointment with the doctor on Thursday the day before his appoint.
I've just found out tonight that my brother has been found dead in his flat. He has MS
Getting R on the train at that time in the morning is going to be horrific
Being unwell myself heavy cough, lost voice , and now having to deal with the loss of the brother , it's all too much.
R won't speak to the assessor. His statement of special ed and supporting letters from school nurse, teacher etc clearly state he has issues with strangers.
What will happen if he refuses to speak to them?
I don't feel it's acceptable for me to talk about him in front of him. I say talk but due to my voice it will be a squeak.
R will wear his headphones and watch a DVD how will they handle that. This is part of who he is.
Best case scenario I can cancel the appointment , but that's not going to happen as it's the second one
Feeling stressed

Hi Caz,
I'm sorry that you are going through all this Please accept my condolences for the loss of your brother.
I think you would have difficulty showing 'good cause' for changing the appointment again as it is you who are il, not your son. DWP do tend to stop payments first and ask questions later and it can be really difficult to get payments re-instated once they have been stopped.
However, I guess you have nothing to lose by phoning the Assessment Provider again and asking if you can change a second time. Lay it on thick and you might just get a human at the other end of the phone. If not you are no worse off.
The assessor will need to see for his/herself that the claimant, your son, cannot take part in the process. You should explain this clearly before they start and emphasise that this is down to his condition, not rudeness etc.
Before the appointment it is worth re-reading your copy of the PIP2 form/PIP guide to remind yourself of the exact descriptors and terminology used by DWP.
Please return to this with any further questions or comments and we will do our best to help. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark/favourite it on your web browser now
