PIP Renewal Again! was created by weasley
Hi All,

Advice please. My relative had his PIP review in September 2016.The face-to-face was conducted by an ex nurse. It went well, and he was awarded 1 year PIP at the high rate of both components, which is what he was already on.

He has now received a letter from the DWP saying that he needs to complete another form,he then phones the DWP to ask why, after having completed a form so recently and having had the face-to-face. The lady told him that because he has been awarded one year until the end of 2017, he will need to go through the procedure again, its standard practice. I phoned upon his behalf, and asked the question, will he have to go through a face-to-face again? To which they replied, it is unlikely? I also questioned the time to return the new form, is less than 4 weeks, its actually 3 weeks, to which she replied, "if the form is not returned by the required date his benefits may stop. He is sick with worry having gone though this nightmare procedure less than a month ago, his PIP has been awarded for 12 months, so why are they asking him to complete another form with 11 months still remaining on his award? Thank you as always.

Hi cm,

PIP claims are currently being reassessed a full year before the end date :( However, this does not usually apply to 1 year awards which we expect to be reassessed 3-4 months before the end date.

However, in law PIP can be reassessed at any stage, there are no minimum limits such as there were for DLA or ESA.

It might be worth trying to speak to a DWP supervisor, which will necessitate a call-back, but the sad fact is that your friend will have to go through the reassessment unless he gets written confirmation that it has been deferred.

The 4 weeks given to complete and submit the PIP2 form includes postage each way and does not take account of things like bank holiday delays. A 2 week extension is usually given on request though. Has your friend has this?

As to the face2face assessment - this will only be awarded if the assessor believes they have enough information to make a recommendation to DWP without seeing the claimant. So the more information and evidence given, the better the chance of avoiding a f2f.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it in future? I'm sure you remember that we ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic :)

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I was just reading this and immediately came to the conclusion that your assessment went well because it was an ex nurse. They know and understand and as a result of this you were awarded the full benefits deserved. The DWP don't want this. I mean the entire system is increasing the health risks of people who are already in desperate circumstances. I don't understand how this can be happening.
