7 plus 4points for Pip was created by niccikk
After receiving DLA for many years due to my mental ill health, following an Atos assessment for PIP I received 7 points for daily living and 4 for mobility.

I have the report here, and have until the 15th Jan to ask for a reconsideration. My GP is dictating a letter of support re social support (I think that is where I would get the extra points from) but I'm not sure that I will receive that before the deadline next week. Should I just write to ask for reconsideration now, saying that medical letter will follow?

ALso, in my Atos assessment it states "I agree you have difficulties... engaging with other people face to face" - this is why I need social support (I used to have this provided via direct payments from social services but after the third worker moved away, I couldn't face going through all the interviewing and getting to know someone again so just let it slide) - what would be the best way to phrase that I don't just need prompting to go out, I need someone actively there with me to speak for me, help me not panic, help me get where I need to be as otherwise I will just drive to supermarket and not dare go inside.

I have read many things on here re mobility, so not really sure how I can argue for the higher award - although atos said "you said you have difficulty planning and following journies. I agree you have difficulties. This is consistent with your medical history, your description of a typical day, informal observations at your face to face consultation, how you engaged with the assessor, the information you provided about how your disability affects you and your mental state examination results." But then I only received 4 points for "you need prompting from another person to avoid causing you significant mental distress". I cant plan a journey let alone undertake it on my own, is that what atos are saying?

Hi niccikk and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work ,

You have one month from the date of your MR letter in which to submit your MR request. If your GP report will not be ready by that date, I suggest that you get the request submitted and state that you will send in the GP report as soon as you can.

DWP should allow you extra time - but we often hear from members who find that the MR has been carried out and a decision made before they have had chance to submit their extra documentation. So I suggest that you get it in as soon as you can. Don't forget to put your name and Ni no at the top of each page and also clearly number each page. We recommend using the formula 'page x of y' as that makes it easy to see if anything is missing from the back of the pack.

The Enhanced mobility award has deliberately been made very difficult to get. The criteria are clearly described in the PIP guide. Please note that the criterion for 'mental distress'

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments relating to your PIP without having to start a new topic each time.
