I have not heard from dwp. I am very uneasy about contacting them by telephone.
Shall I wait to see if a letter arrives?

You can, but we do hear of MRs being lost. If you are unhappy calling can someone ring on your behalf, you would need to be available to answer the security questions and to authorise the DWP to speak to the person.

I spoke to dwp this morning. MR letter was posted out on 6th Feb. They have not changed their decision. I shall appeal. I will read your guides first.
Is it worth contacting Citizens Advice?

It's worth trying but make sure that you get access to one of their fully trained advisors.

Hi Gordon
Please can you advise re completing section 5 of SSC1 (appeal) form?
Do I list all the reasons I put in my request for the MR, or does It need to be more succinct?
I don't want to put too much, or too little!

You don't have to go into detail, perhaps list the most important two or three with a paragraph or two for each about why you think the Decision is wrong and why you think you should have an award.

I have posted SSCS1 form and await a reply. I heard that DWP can sometimes change their original decision before the appeal goes to a hearing. Is this correct?
