Daily diary to detail difficulties posed by depr

I have noted that one can compile a daily diary of difficulties posed by depressive illness/anxiety etc.
The diary can be submitted to support an application for PIP.
Is this of any value?
Does it improve ones chances of a successful application and obtaining a PIP award.?
Has anyone submitted such a diary and been successful in being given a PIP award or submitted one and been turned down for PIP?
Alternatively is the diary a crafty ploy to "trip up "appliancts of PIP with depressive illness by ATOS /Capita /DWP regarding the compilation of the diary an indication that apllicants cannot be that unwell otherwise they would not have the motivation or powers of concentration to compile a diary .
This is then used as a reason to deny the applicant PIP success
Any observations?

Hi John,

We have certainly heard from members who believe that submitting a diary helped their claim but I'm afraid I don't remember what condition/s they have.

If you feel that filling out a diary would be at odds with information you have given then it would probably be better to give it a miss.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Thankyou so much Madam,
It would be useful to know what condition /s the apllicants to which you refer to actually were suffering from but I am glad to hear that they were successful .
Maybe members will see my original posting and tell us if they had complied a daily "depressive illness diary"and whether it had resulted in helping them to win a PIP award.
If we get enough responses then perhaps we can establish a pattern which may assist members, which depressive illness to make a judgement on whether they need to compile a multi entry daily diary for maybe the next two years .
If it means that they stand a significantly better chance of winning a PIP award then clearly, although time consuming members are better placed compiling a diary as opposed to not compiling a diary.
Let's see what responses we get as the most common condition which wins PIP is in fact psychological /mental illnesses.
By the way I see that Complete PIP rollout has now been put forward to October 2018 from March 2018,an indication perhaps that the huge backlog is well, still huge.
One MP I have spoken to with connections to the DWP has suggested that full PIP rollout may well not be completed in this parliament.

I did not send in any daily diaries for my husband as in his PIP2 it was clearly stated that he suffers from Chronic CFS as well as other health issues and was having difficulties in managing his daily activities, due to pain and fatigue, so how is he meant to fill out an accurate daily diary???

I thought by completing a diary this would go against him as it was the opposite of what was written in his form.

However, if one has been advised by their treating consultants, then it is worth considering, as long as there are no contradictions!!!!!!

Regards
R

Thankyou
I was actually referring to depressive illness and not chronic fatigue syndrome.
