Hello all I've just received my pip booklet to fill in ,I'm a bit confused already !Do I tick boxes a b and c or just the ones that apply to me ? For example q4 eating and drinking if I tick box a no box b no and box c yes I need somebody to cut up food and help me eat so tick yes in box 4c is that correct or would I leave 4a and 4b blank ? If I tick box4a am I saying I can manage to feed myself ok and then b and c will be irrelevant ? Appreciate any input to clarify this for me so basically I'm saying can I leave questions a and b blank and only fill in relevant ones that apply or has each section need a response ?Sorry for such long winded question but very confusing thanks in advance

Each of the tick boxes is asking you a different question so you need to supply an answer for each, however, if you do not feel that you can answer with a simple yes or no then mark the box "see below" and answer in the comments box or on a separate page.

See the PIP Claim for more details.

Thanks Gordon does using an aid add to total points per discriptor or detract from it for example I use a bath seat but it has to be put in place and taken away for me after someone has washed me ? Thanks for all you and other moderators are doing helping people like me face this stressful situation

In general the use of an aid adds points for PIP, this is the opposite of how DLA works.

You will need to show that the use of an aid is the only way that you can complete the activity to score the points.

The PIP Claim guide has a list of aids that would be expected to be relevant for each activity.

Back again sorry !! I feel I'm contradicting myself on pip form do you answer one or all sections !For example Q 3 a does putting x in no mean they take no notice of yes in 3b q5 a no and 5b yes in any question do I leave boxes blank ? In q6 if I say I use an appliance to sit in bath am I saying. I can wash myself do I just tick one option that describes me best out of both sections ??

Hi Jtb,

If you are finding it difficult to know which box to tick, then leave them blank. You should then write something like 'none of these accurately reflect my limitations, see additional sheet x' and then explain fully in the additional information.
