You can apply for PIP at any stage as long as you are under state retirement age, have had your problems for at least 3 months already and they are expected to last for a further 9 months.

Have a look at our PIP guide to see what the criteria are. There is a 'self-assessment' test that you can do, don't forget to score yourself very harshly - as DWP will.

Littlebipolar wrote: Hello , I know it's easy said than done but try not to let this stress you out too much I'm due for reassessment of both pip and esa soon . My doctor is very supportive , which was a relief , if you have a real problem attending a f2f (as am I) I was given some advice that maybe a supportive statement added to ur gps letter that they think a paper based review will be appropriate as the stress and anxiety of a face to face would be detrimental to your mental health ? I hope you manage to get supporting evidence from your doctor . Do you see a cpn/support worker /psychiatrist ? X

I have not managed to see the same GP twice unfortunately, so I am struggling to get them to provide a supporting letter, let alone a statement suggesting a F2F would be a problem. I am also on a waiting list for a psychotherapist, but who knows how long that will take.

I received the dreaded appointment yesterday, for 3 weeks time. I am in full on panic mode now and know that if I cannot get this changed to another method of evaluation then my mental health with suffer massively - I'm genuinely have no idea what to do now, having serious dark thoughts whether this is all worth it.

I'm afraid there is little advice we can offer, even your MP is going to be of little use unless you have a letter from your GP.

Is there anybody who can go with you to the appointment, would this make it easier on you to attend?
