Maybe, you can speak to the GP via telephone, and explain your situation and see what can be done.
Some surgeries operate a telephone consultation for patients who cannot attend personally for whatever reason. You should just book one through reception and insist that it is personal.

Well it's impossible to see my GP without around 2 weeks notice, so that's not going to happen.

The only 'evidence' I have is a fit note that has already been sent off and medication.

So I guess that means a guaranteed medical? One which I almost certainly will miss due to panic attacks and possibly worse.
Couple of further questions if I may.

  1. If I fail to turn up to the medical will I automatically be declined?
  2. What other evidence could I send?

Hi, sorry I missed this earlier. Thank you.

I spoke to a random GP at the surgery that has had no dealing with me and they seemed reluctant to give any letter - partly because I had missed a few weeks medication (because I hate it and avoid ordering it, and just seemed not keen on doing it in general).

I'll try again, but it has to be there by Friday. Bit of a mad panic now.

Thanks again.

If you fail to notify them that you will not be attending then your file will be returned to the DWP and I would expect your claim to be closed.

If you fail to attend a second appointment, you having rearranged the first one then your file will be returned and again I would expect your claim to be closed.

In both cases you have a right of appeal.

You can a copy of your medical records from your GP practice. See

You can always send information after your form has been returned.

Hi

As mentioned earlier I am currently on the assessment rate for ESA while my claim is processed.

I have had to make a separate claim for Housing Benefit - as due to filling out an ESA1 form physically (paper form) my Housing Benefit was not made at the same time (this is normally made by the advisor over the phone at the same time as the ESA1 form if done over the phone).

My Housing Benefit claim has been accepted, but I asked for this to be backdated to when I originally made the ESA claim, as this would normally be done at the same time and I was not made aware I had to make a separate claim.

The Appeals officer has just contacted me asking "What made you believe that when you completed a paper claim for ESA that you had applied for Housing Benefit at that time?"

My back dating claim is obviously dependent on how I answer this question - and seeing as I am seriously behind on my rent, this is incredibly important.

Does anyone know how best to answer this?

Thank you.
