Hi Lee,

Yes, it is fine to do as you suggest. You should explain what you have done and why.

I am in the same position. Thanks for the answer. Whereabouts on Pip2 should I include the explanation, as a covering note on a seperate sheet of paper inside the front cover, or should I include the explanation as part of Q15 as extra information?

I would probably include this with the additional information. If the reasons for you needing to complete the form also impact on PIP descriptors, you can also explain this in the relevant place on the form.

Thank you. The DLA form was easier to include such information and explanations. The section early in the form - About your illnesses an disabilities and the treatment or help you receive- allowed for this. I would like the assessor to know that my husband was unable to type up the form and attached sheets as a direct result of hisi mental condition, as the first thing they read. Otherwise, they may make false assumptions, but being professionals, I will follow your advice, and hope they read all the information we send in before coming to a decision. Your site is of immense help in preparing Pip2_ thank you.

Hi Jessss,

I must make it clear that we are not professionals! Although we aim to help members understand the criteria against which they will be assessed and how the system works, we certainly would not want to tell you how you must fill in the forms.

It is important that you are happy with the information you provide to DWP/assessor. If you feel that it would be better to write a separate letter explaining why you completed the form, then this is what you should do.
