Permitted Work ESA Mental Health Grounds was created by mbzowska
Is anyone able to advise or point me in the right direction for advice on the following question: would being a member of the management committee of a housing cooperative which manages the block of flats you live in be classed as permitted work requiring approval from the DWP? Being on the committee is unpaid. If not, would it in any event be likely to be a relevant change in circumstances? There are monthly meetings in the evening and sometimes some other meetings and admin tasks such as signing documents

Hi Emily and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
As this position is unpaid (and no-one else on the committee is paid for doing the same job), I would not expect this to be classed as permitted work.
Whether you need to inform DWP of a change of circumstances would depend on whether carrying out the activities for the management committee is contrary to the information you gave in your ESA50 form.
To give an extreme example, if you have said that you are never able to leave your home, going out to these meetings would be a change in circumstances.
If you have any further questions/comments about your ESA claim, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help (you will find it easily in future if you favourite/bookmark this on your web browser now). We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too
