Hi, I am new to this site so bear with me.

So this morning I have had an assessment at my home for PIP after filling n the PIP2 form.

I was awarded PIP in April 2015 after making my first claim and I am on Enhanced Mobility and Standard Care. It says in my letter that they would send out the PIP2 form in Oct 2016 for me to fill in and send back but my award was given until October 2017! They have now assessed me and could alter my award even before it has officially ended.
This doesn't seem right or fair at all and I am now in danger of loosing my Motability car, which I have only had since February 2016, if the decision maker tries to change my award and I have to go to appeal.

This new system is awful and the assessor was horrible, rude and kept cutting me off when I was trying to explain things to her saying "just answer the question"., which I will doing but some needed more explanation. All she was bothered about was her time!! She didn't have any updated information, which I put in the PIP2 form and I had to correct her.

I am bracing myself to be downgraded or worse still taken off it even though I am quite disabled and can hardly walk.

Has anyone else had a similar experience recently.

Thanks Jo

Hi Jo,

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm afraid that, as you have found, it is DWP practice to start the reassessment process a full year ahead of the end date.

I agree that it seems (is!) totally unfair to claimants. However, legislation allows for reassessment at any stage so there is no way out of it.

You might like to let your MP know what is happening and how it has affected you. They are the only people who can get this legislation changed!

Contacting your MP

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? That will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)
