ESA reassessment was created by Chris
I was ill health retired at the start of September 2016 from my job at Royal Mail as a postman. This was due to an accident at work which resulted in an injury called a Maisonnueve Fracture, this has now left my ankle arthritic and very painful to move around on without the aid of a stick. When I finished up I was put straight into the Support Group without a medical and am only now just past the 13 week assessment phase.Today I received a letter and form to fill in for work capability ,is this the norm or should I not be alarmed?

Many thanks Chris.

The DWP can reassess a claimant once three months have elapsed from the previous Decision, it's not clear from your post when the Decision to put you in the SG was made, but it sounds as if it was reasonably recent.

I would check with the DWP office dealing with your claim that a reassessment is being carried out, if it is then I'm afraid you have little choice but to comply. Contact information will be on the Decision letter you received.

Hi Chris,

I have merged your query with the previous topic relating to your ESA as we ask claimants to keep everything about the same claim in one topic.

You should explain how your conditions affect you now. You should treat this as you did the original application and give the assessor all the information you want them to have. Do not assume that the assessor will have any knowledge of your previous claim/s - they might well not even know that you are already in receipt of the benefit.

Please reply to this message with further questions or comments about your PIP and we will do our best to help. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark/favourite it on your web browser now. Alternatively you can click on your username (in blue when you are logged into the forum) and it will bring up a list of all your previous messages :)
