i need some hope or at least some reassurance about what to expect from a transfer from DLA to PIP so can you tell me what to expect or what award i am more likely to get, i have a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and i got esa support group without a face to face thanks to a friend, i live alone now,

can you tell me if i am likely to get an award or get nothing? using evidence you have seen on this site from people with similar conditions?

I'm really sorry but I can't give you any reassurances, PIP is not about your conditions it's about the limitations that result from them so two people with the same conditions could have very different limitations and receive very different awards.

If you want to understand how you might score for PIP then go through the PIP Appeal Claim guide to understand the criteria you will need to meet, mark yourself harshly as the DWP will undoubtedly do so and take the Descriptors as they are written, there is little flexibility in how they are interpreted.

Hi Stuart
Take heart. The information on this site is invaluable. Read all of it and you will be best prepared for making a claim. The mods here are very understanding and patient. Anything you don't understand, just ask and they will explain it. Most of your questions have answers here, but better to ask and be sure. Making a claim for PIP is not really scary, it is your chance to get the best help possible for your living needs. Pay attention to how you satisfy each of the descriptors and where possible get medical or other evidence to back it up. Keeping a diary is a good idea, Talk to the people that know you best as they may have observations that you overlook because you are used to compensating as a way of life.

hi i hope your not offended but the illness this man has and my son has people have no undestanding and they should not comment on what they do not understand i could never envisage my son being able to come on here and read all the literature he would never understand it and Gordon as good as he is a moderator does not understand the illness as most people dont Only the one,s who have it and those who look after them understand and that is why i said he will need special help because it is a dounting process and it is scary for someone with that type of illness i still say get qualified help because they are sending people with mental health to face2faces and their not getting any award.which i think is appalling.

you are right, i cant understand it, these people don't like me and they want me to die in my opinion, i think if i lose my award i will probably die, i'm surviving at the moment but it wont take much to throw me over the edge, i'm scared of the face to face and that is my main concern, that they are judging me on how i look and not on my difficulties up here (points to head) they don't care about us and all they want to do is meet their quota and get their bonuses or whatever, they are a heartless bunch and they will probably all go to hell, it takes a certain type of person to do that job and they are not even qualified i think.

i was thinking about sending them an old discharge letter from the last time i was hospitalised stating my overdose and psychosis, but that was in 2010 and i have been stable enough to stay out of hospital since, i think its probably the most powerful piece of evidence i have, i'm hoping my new psychiatrist will put in a good word for me if he is contacted and my GP (who i don't know) along with a list of medications.
