Hi

Well, after receiving the letter advising my DLA will be stopping just before Christmas, have with the help and assistance from my partner, completed the PIP form & sent it off yesterday. Would like to say a BIG thank you, as think without the guide to filling out the form, would have been a much scarier & stressful time. Know I will have the assessment to come, but just to get the form off has lifted some of the worry.

Will update as soon as I hear anything. Once again thanks for the valuable resource this site offers!

Regards
Shauny :)

Just an update - Sent my form back on the 14th (Due by 20/01) by Recorded Delivery (Not that I'm cynical of DWP admitting form received in time!) ;) Just checked, and electronic proof of delivery confirmed it was signed for on the 18/01 - Have to say although taking this as calmly as I can, this is another little tick off the worry list! :S

Hi

Well, have just received my appointment letter it's next Thursday 16th - Really surprised as have been informed that I will be receiving a home visit - I didn't request my assessment be carried out at home, not that it bothers me, but was wondering if this is usual? In my form, I did state that it would be easier if the appointment could be at any time between mid-morning to early afternoon as it takes me a couple of hours to get my arms/legs (& brain  !) functioning in the morning when I get up, and usually by early afternoon, the fatigue/tiredness kicks in.

I will still be asking my partner to be in attendance purely to have a second pair of ears, and to jot down things.

Hi Shauny,

By scheduling a home visit, the assessment provider has accepted that you have a significant degree of impairment.

Home assessments will follow a very similar form to those undertaken elsewhere, what to expect is explained in the PIP guide.

It is up to you which room the assessment is held in, and who you have with you. You do not have to make any special arrangements for the visit (you don't even have to get out of bed).

The assessor has the same rights as any other visitor to you home. They do not have the right to 'snoop' - and nor have we heard of anyone wanting to do so.

I hope the assessment goes well.
