DLA to PIP - Start of Process was created by Eag
Good evening All....
My partner is on Indefinite DLA serious back injury.
Received 2 letters about claiming PIP, or Not :
1st Letter dated 17th Dec.16 took 7 days to reach him. 2nd Letter chasing first, dated 31 Dec.16 and took 6 days to arrive. (Could they not have hit the 'Pause' button over the Xmas period). When making the telephone claim, which was conducted pleasantly, I made the point. I was given a tele.no which we could use for an extension, if reqd.
14th Jan.17, received the Full Form on 'How your disability affects you'. That one took 5 days to arrive.t Has to be returned by 9 Feb
I expected we would have received the completed form (PIP1) as a result of the telephone interview, to check, sign and return, and then be sent the next form. Saw this noted in your Guide.
Is this significant, or Is the DWP short-circuiting things here - to hurry the process along, or can we still ask for the telephone interview Form to be sent to check, sign and return?.
Is this significantIs there anything we're missing hereAnyone else get this treatment?
Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi HIT,
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
DWP no longer send out a copy of the PIP1 for the claimant to sign and check. So you have not missed out on any part of the process thus far.
As you were told, you can phone DWP for an extension. 2 weeks extra are usually given without any problem.
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your partner's PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too
