PIP was created by E Gardner
I had my pip assessment in July 2016, after a stressful six week wait my care component went up to enhanced, but my mobility went down to standard meaning I lost my mobility car, I was 2 points short for enhanced rate. I went to my assessment on my mobility scooter and only moved from scooter to chair , 2 steps. I stood up to see how far down my legs I could reach, not very far. I was so stressed I had a bad episode of my tremors, my husband was with me for support. On the report the assessor stated I said I could walk down my driveway which is 40 metres, I did not say this at all and so asked for a mandatory review, emphasising, I did not mention my driveway which is only 20 metres and I have not the energy or need to do this as my car is right outside my front door. The mandatory report agreed with the assessor, saying my husband did not disagree with this statement about driveway, that is because it was not said. I have now put in an appeal, the DWP still insist I can walk over 40 to 50 metres, so it is my word against them, how can they just put in something that is so untrue. I am having a face to face appeal and I am very passionate, to get this point across to the appeal board. ?????

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

MR revision rates are very low as DM's are very reluctant to accept opposing views of the information in the assessment report, Appeal panels are much more open minded about the report as indicated by the turnover rate which is in excess of 60% at the moment, they will not be surprised that you dispute the contents.

That said, you will only increase your Mobility award by showing that you meet the criteria to score the 12 points you need, so you need to go right back to your PIP2 and go through it again to ensure that you explained in detail why your walking limited.

If you have any specific questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
