DLA TO PIP was created by Painintheass
Hi, I rang the DWP as I had to apply to go from DLA to PIP and they kept asking me if they could use my old DLA medical evidence for my claim. Has anyone else had this experience? I'm in Wiltshire if that helps.

S

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I have moved your post to it's own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.

It's up to you, but be aware that the PIP assessment criteria are significantly different from the DLA ones.

If you have had a recent DLA assessment or your conditions have not changed significantly since you were last assessed then you might want to consider using your DLA information.

If you have not been assessed for some time or your conditions have changed since you last were then you might want to concentrate on using new evidence.

Using your previous DLA evidence does not preclude you from supplying new evidence.

There is no guarantee that your DLA information will still be available.

Although you can ask as part of you making a claim, I would not expect the DWP to provide copies of the DLA evidence to you.

Our recommendation is to supply all of the evidence you want those assessing you to review with the PIP2. You can get copies of your previous DLA information, if you do not have copies yourself by making a Subject Access Request.

Hi,

I have just been through this process, had my assessment just before christmas..........heard today got the standard rate for both, Happy with that because the criteria for PIP is much stricter than DLA, I would advise strongly using the PIP guide on here (members guide) and take as much advice from Gordon and Mrs Hurtyback, dont be afraid to ask questions on here. Dont under report, but dont exaggerate, just be honest, The assessment itself was not as daunting as I expected. They start by asking about your illness, your medication, then go on to ask questions based on your answers on the how your disabilities affect you' form, then ask you to do a few movements i.e. stretching your arms and legs nothing much, but, if anything they ask will cause you pain, just explain that and dont do it. Important thing is, get somebody to go in with you for support and witness. I got a summary of what the assessor had said, I have to say, a couple of things were just lies, fabrication, but, I am not challenging it because I have got an award, and I havent got the energy after the stress of the last few months, Good luck, dont worry too much, if thats possible. take care x

Hi, I'm in Wiltshire too. Apparently I got asked the same but don't remember. Anyway, the deputy used my go report from my DLA claim in late 2014.
This report is outdated and does not include recent diagnosis, but what is funny ( not in a ha ha ha way) is that based on that report I got full mobility and care for DLA....yet with PIP I get standard care only.........I am going through reconsideration process.
I feel they use old reports so they don't have to pay for gp to supply a new one.
Not sure if that helps you.....

Yes I was asked the same a couple of weeks ago. I agreed but I gues mine would be so out of date as I claimed in 2006. I was a bit worried at the time as it was a question I was not prepared for and I was already having problems with understanding a regional accent. On the last part of the form now and have endured a gruelling couple of weeks and disturbed sleep over this.
