Hi
have heard and read of abysmal treatments of claimants when going for assessments are there any voluntary organisations that can offer to go with claimants to make sure they get a fair assessment so to speak

Try any charities that support your conditions and your GP surgery should have a list of voluntary groups in your area.

I have now been to two ESA and two PIp assessments the two recorded ones went well the other two we had to go to appeal and make formal complaint with one to NMC

If it is an ESa WCA you are worried about you can ask for it to be recorded.

PIP Assessments are a bit different you still need to request a recorded a need to take you own equipment.you need to record two copies at the same time using two casssette recorders. It wil;lcost about £30to0 with the cassettes,

Recording at least means that the assessor cannot say you said something you didnot say.but you must be on your guard not to be coerced into giving answers that can go against you.
for example HCp's have been asking "how longin.time can you walk"
It is easy to say "for just one or two minutes" which will rule out the mobility activity/descriptors for PIP and mobilsing for ESA.

I think that in a good portion of these assessments the odds are stacked against you and you have got to be wary of what you say and what is asked, some people will attend them thinking well I will tell the truth only to find when the copy of the assessment is sent to them that what they said simply is not recorded in the fashion in which it was said, an example of which you state, instead of giving the answer you stated you say I can only walk 20 mts but in doing so I am in pain an frightened of falling over, as the case may be.
That's my opinion
