Dear friends
I dont know how to start my thread;but basically im a partner of an esa claimant in the support group due to the mobility descriptor. The esa is being reassessed and my husband is under huge mental stress as recently i rang Maximus up and they said hes on the waiting list for a medical. Last time we wnt for a medical it was a load of lies and even though there was a letter from the old gp saying he can only walk upto 30 metres. They put him in wrag.I appealed and put in a complaint of atos and the medical was deemed wrong hense put in support group. My husband says he cant go through that again even though i said ile help him we can go through the questions of medicals via resources here.So we also have 2 children of school age whom get dla high rate care and low rate mobility so we are thinking apply for carers allowance for both of us being carers and then apply income support .But its the Work forcused interviews will we get called to them regularly ? My husband does not want to attend them? What if they tell us to work as the children are in school However my husband has a disability he cant go to work forcused activities.
Also if we claimed carers and income support and then after 5 years it all stopped will u have problems getting back on a new esa claim?

You really need to get face to face advice about this.

In principle you can claim CA and Income Support but there is no automatic exemption from the requirement to attend WFIs and failing to do so can lead to payments being suspended and even stopped.

You also need to be aware that Income Support is being replaced by Universal Credit which has different requirements, your area may have already be migrated and therefore a new claim for IS may not be possible, but even if not then you need to be aware of the implications.

Any requirement for a new claim for ESA will also be effected by UC.
