Regarding the incontinence question for esa..I'm not sure what they mean by extensive evacuation of the bladder despite wearing aids? I need to use incontinence pads but still sometimes have to change clothing and wash when the pad wasn't enough or when I have accidents while undressing to use the loo. . Would they expect me to wear much higher absorbing pads or even adult nappies?
I'm not sure how a person could meet the criteria of still needing to wash and change while wearing pads or adult nappies?

You should take the requirement as written, so significant means

Sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy

This is far more than just a leak.

This Descriptor has multiple elements and all of the need to be met in order to score points.

See the ESA Claim guide for more details.

Thanks Gordon,

I've looked at the guide but I'm just not sure if the dwp would expect a person to wear higher absorbing pads or even adult nappies to avoid a significant accident and therefore the need to change clothes?
With the use of adult nappies in particular I'm not sure how anyone would manage to score points?

The DWP can assume the use of reasonable aids, I can't offer an opinion on whether adult nappies would be included but can't see why they would not. Member's do qualify under this Descriptor but it is not easy.
