Hi all, been a while but the wife's PIP is up for renewal so may need some help with his one.
Last time she applied , although her health hadn't improved, she lost all her enhanced mobility and half her daily living allowance. AS my wife also sufferers from stress and anxiety to the point she had seek specialist counselling she didn't want to challenge the decision as the threat of loosing what little award she had been awarded was too much for her. I'm sure people here are familiar with the 'planning and following a journey' question which mainly what lost her award! She is not able to leave the house without assistance but the question was put in such a way you couldn't really qualify even with all the medical reports we had submitted from consultants.
Ok so brief introduction over, but for now just to ask , Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so what did you do?
Thanks

The guide has been updated due to new guidance on this issue.

The Going Out activity cover three areas;

Planning a route - this is primarily a cognitive or sensory (e.g. blindness) activity.

Undertaking a Journey - this is do with mental health issues such as agoraphobia and social anxiety and is concerned with you leaving the house to go somewhere. You need to show that your wife would suffer "overwhelming psychological distress" to meet the criteria.

Following a route - the DWP regard this as a cognitive or sensory activity to do with navigating the route, to score for mental health issues you will need to show that her anxiety is so extreme that it would prevent you from actually navigating the route.

Hi, thanks for your reply. My wife's problem is with her balance, there are other problems also associated with her condition which has been very bad for 7 years now for which the DWP were aware with medical evidence. Basically she would appear to other people as being drunk not being able to walk in a straight line for very long and crossing roads very difficult unless with assistance from another person, this has been very upsetting for her as you can imagine. The first HCP agreed with this and she was awarded high rate mobility , on re assessment the HCP also noted this but the decision maker disagreed and awarded only 4 points. The original score had been 10 so quite a drop Because of The threat of loosing what little benefit she had left and the stress and anxiety this was causing the both of us she decided not to challenged it.
Well at the moment were waiting for the 'invitation' to fill out the forms but can I ask, would that form be the AR1 which ive downloaded or will it be the older one?
Thanks again.

We still haven't been able to work out when they will send an AR1 or a new PIP2, I would expect the former but can't guarantee it.
