PIP assessment and Tier 1 ill health retirement

Can anyone advise me please. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me.

I have been on DLA and ESA in the support group since 2012, I am receiving high mobility, and low care payments under DLA. I filled out a PIP form. which was sent to me from DWP, and I now have to attend a medical assessment.

When I working in the civil service I became ill with an illness called Neuromylitits Optica, which affects my spinal cord. My employers felt that I was not fit to work, and retired me on Tier 1 Ill Health in 2014.

At my PIP medical assessment should I tell the medical doctors about my ill health retirement or not. Also, would they have the same medical notes that was used by the civil service medical assessor?

PIP will be awarded if you score at least 8 points against very specific descriptors (12 points for the enhanced awards). It is unlikely that the fact you have been retired on medical grounds will be seen to be relevant, unless the reason for the retirement relates directly to any of these descriptors.

The assessor will not have access to any reports other than those you send to them, so make sure you include any supporting documents you have.
