Becoming self-employed was created by Keen
Hi,
I'm currently awaiting a mandatory reconsideration after my claim for ESA was closed in November, due to my failing the Work Capability Assessment. I am now on JSA, and I have also been awarded PIP at £55.10 a week. It is three months since my ESA was closed, and I hate 'signing on'. I'm 62 and have provided the Job Centre with a fit note that lasts until April 2017. My question is this...would I be just as well off becoming 'Self-employed' with potential Working Tax Credits, rather than appealing to have my ESA reinstated. I actually hated being on it; it made me feel trapped and depressed. PIP isn't means tested which is a relief. Have any of you had a go at the whole self-employed option, and what did you learn from the experience?

I'm also in a similar position and would be interested in any responses.

under UC and tax regulations sick people going self employed and just ticking over no longer works
your allowed a once in a lifetime no profit year after which if you don't do decent turnover they will tell you what you should be making

if you go bust any further company must make money from day one couples get one company start up between them
