Appeal Tribunal PIP result. was created by Black Dahlia
I am posting this for the benefit of other members who are awaiting Tribunals for PIP for mental health issues.

I had my Tribunal a few days ago for my conditions, Borderline Personality disorder, Fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue syndrome, I am 61 years old.
It was a harrowing, humiliating, invasive and quite aggressive inquisition by a Disability advisor, a GP and a Judge.
Despite having extensive medical evidence, letters from GPs and Consultants they constantly questioned and cross examined me in a way that felt like they were seeking to trip me up, concerning the descriptors that I and my Citizens Advice representative had agreed need to be challenged.

These were the descriptors:-

1) Preparing meals and the need for supervision.
2) Social engagement.
3) Planning and travelling to unfamiliar places.

After a devastating 40 minute ordeal, and all in the presence of a security guard as well(!), I was finally released, to sit in a room, whilst they discussed my claim with the representative.

The outcome was only one descriptor was deemed relevant, 2) social engagement. this resulted in 10 points being added to my other Daily Living points giving me a total of 16 points and an award of Enhanced Daily Living rate from the initial Standard rate, awarded a year ago.

The award remained at being up for review in 2021, for which I am relieved.

I received nothing for Mobility, just the 4 points I had before which, of course qualifies me for nothing.
Yet travelling to unfamiliar places without the assistance of another person is a highly significant part of my problems.

So in my transition from DLA Indefinite Award at the Higher Daily Living rate and the Standard Mobility rate, I have lost £84 per month from my already low income!!!
Its not good enough.
I see this PIP process as an attempt to reduce all disabled peoples income and an attack on the poor and the weak. Heinous indeed.

Nevertheless, having read all the information and the updates on this site regarding the probability of people with mental health issues being awarded the 10 points for "Travelling to unfamiliar places" I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I have decided to "quit while I am ahead" and not to appeal to an Upper Tribunal judgement, advised that I may lose more in the process (?!)

I have been through hell this past 11 months and just to have it all stop and go away is a huge relief.
I will inevitably get a review in 4 years time, I hope by then we have a new Government and changes to this draconian system are made.
I will be 65 when I get my review and expect that great efforts will be made to get me off any PIP before I get my pension at 66 when the PIP would (I believe - correct me if I am wrong please) continue until my death.
Good luck Everybody,
I hope this was useful to you.

Hi
Be aware when your review is due, i believe that you will only carry over into retirement the mobility rate you have and cannot increase it after retirement

David, I don't have a mobility rate! So do not understand what you mean by this statement. I have Enhanced Daily Living rate. Are you saying I will lose this? Do I then either get migrated to Attendance allowance or do I have to make a claim for this?

David is warning you that you will not be able to gain any mobility element once you have passed state pension age.

Oh, yes I realise that now. My state pension age is 66. I do not get my pension until then.
