Hi everyone , I have my pip face to face 16th February , my daughter in law plans to take me, it is in Tunbridge Wells, which is about 50mins drive away. My niece lives hear by so we plan to meet her for coffee first and prepare ourselves . Do you know if there is a limit on how many relatives can come in with you?. I usually use a mobility scooter but this will not fit in the car we have to use, I have narrowed a wheelchair as I can not walk very far. CAB advisor said not to get out of the chair all the time I am there, what if I am asked too??. I have indefinite DLA this is an invite to change over, at the initial phone call DWP asked if I would be seeking help to fill in the forms when I said yes they asked who that would be, is this normal practice ?. I have used your guides and some help with actual writing from CAB. I have chronic GORD with speech problems, at times I loose my voice all together , this is on my application form I am in a panic on how I am going to make myself understood or how am I going to talk for a long time. I have osteoarthritis , fibromyalgia and other complex issues. I know I have to go to this assesment, just want to get it over with. I have had operations on my feet and have to wear support hose. I am a bit worried about the fatigue getting there and the next day. I have good support from my GP. Are there any extra tips you or other members give me on getting through this ordeal, ? I am 68 years old. Do you know what sort of things they will want to do to me or ask me to do?. I am in a panic over being touched by strangers paticulry by men, I am Jewish , I don't know what to do for the best. I am just coming to terms with life again after being targeted and religiously abused by a neighbour, I had to have help with that but have not mentioned it to DWP , CAB said I should have done. My head is just swimming with everything. Thank you .

You are certainly allowed to have ne companion, there is no rule preventing you having two but I would contact the assessment centre to ensure that there are no problems with this like there no being seats for everyone, although if you ae in a wheelchair then this should not be a problem.

You can ask for a female assessor if it would help, this would be a reasonable adjustment under the equality act.

You do not have to submit to a physical examination, but you will need to explain why and assumptions of your capabilities may be made as a result.

Have a look at the PIP Claim guide, it has details of the assessment process and a list of the questions you are likely to be asked.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
