Hi I sent my wife's PIP 2 form off on 18th of Jan by signed for next day delivery and have confirmation from royal mail it was recieved by dwp on 19th Jan, I haven't heard anything from them at all yet ? No acknowledgement or anything is this normal ? Also my wife is in the support group for ESA (and has been so for around 3 years now)and she in reciept of high care and low mobility DLA ( well at least till we hear from PIP)she was given DLA indefinitely and has been on it for around 10 years,my question is will PIP use any information from her ESA evidence also her evidence for DLA application, and do you suggest I ring pip to see what stage she is at with her claim ie f2f assessment dates ? Hope you can help, many thanks

The DWP don't acknowledge receipt of the form uncles they have your mobile number in which case they send a text.

It usually takes a couple of weeks for the Assessment Provider for yo postcode to contact the claimant, so you are right on the cusp for this. There's no harm in your chasing the DWP for an update.

The DWP can use a PIP report in regard to an ESA claim, but there is no guarantee that they will and even if they do, the PIP and ESA criteria can be quite different. My recommendation is to include the report yourself when you wife's ESA is up for reassessment, that way you can integrate it in to your answers on the ESA50.

Hi rang DWP and they said my wife's PIP form has been passed over to assessment provider, will this mean she will be having a face face assessment and the assessment provider will sort this out or could there be a chance of a paper based assessment ? They told me to ring back in 2 weeks if we haven't heard anything, basically I'm asking who (DWP or assessment provider) decides on face2 face or paper assessment ?
Thanks

Hi Lee,

All forms are passed directly to the Assessment Provider as the DWP Decision Makers have no medical knowledge. It is the assessor who decides whether a face2face is required if a recommendation cannot be made without.
