Supporting Evidence was created by winterchild
Hi, I've had an OP102 letter from ATOS - "we have requested supporting evidence from one or more of the people..." etc.

One of the health people I mentioned on the PIP2 was a private psychiatrist. If asked for evidence he may require a higher fee than ATOS's standard amount.

Would it be OK for me to offer to pay the difference, or might it be misconstrued by ATOS/DWP in some way? I was thinking of making the offer direct to the person concerned.

Thanks.

I wouldn't make the offer in case it as seen as inducing the person to make statements in your favour.

Hmm.. Well, I have restrained myself, and will follow your advice.

In any case I have to make an appointment with that psychiatrist soon because it's been too long since the person I care for last saw him and her condition has worsened recently, so maybe the fee for that will assuage any annoyance he might feel!

Thank you for your advice.
Cheers,
W.

An update and snippet that may be of interest if not already mentioned elsewhere.

Some days ago we received an ATOS OP102 letter, an information-only "we are sending for more supporting evidence" type, and we had another identical letter today, dated 1 week later.

Upon enquiry, ATOS said that the letter is sent automatically each time a request for additional supporting evidence is made - on this occasion the first was to the GP, the second to "someone else" as she put it, slightly ominously!

After a two week wait to see if a paper-only process would suffice, ATOS have sent an date for a F2F, disappointingly.

In between now and the appmt date, the person I care for will see her Consultant Psychiatrist for a long term follow-up for the first time in years, which will generate a Consultant's Letter for the GP, plus a copy for us.

What should I do with this "additional evidence". Take it with us to the F2F? Forward it to the DWP decision maker? How would I find out where to send it for that?

Thanks in advance,
W.

You can take it to the assessment, if it is available by then and ask the assessor to read it and include it the claimants file for return to the DWP.

I would also send a copy to the DWP, the address will be on the letter that accompanied the PIP2, for the attention of the Decision Maker.
