ESA Review - does it ever happen? was created by Linda Boulton
Hi there, I have been on contributions based ESA for 365 days now, so I've been informed this is now finishing and my £73.10 is being reduced to £23.44 - No one at the DWP seems to know when my review is going to take place so I'm in limbo. I live at home with my husband who is also my carer and am also on DLA (for now) so this reduction is going to leave us with real problems. I live in Shropshire, does anyone else? Anyone any idea how long reviews are taking? Sorry if I've put this the wrong way. :(

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Forgive me but I don't understand why you are receiving the £23.44. If you are only receiving ESA(CB) then all of your payments should stop, or is that a final payment?

Have you checked whether you are entitled to Income Related ESA? , this will dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See

Asset rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

As to the assessment, you should contact the DWP they can prioritise your claim for assessment. Failing that contact your MP

Contacting your MP

You need to keep your claim open, if an award IS made then your will receive back dated payment for the group you are in, for the WRAG it will be from week 14 of your claim to day 365 but you will not receive on-going payments but will receive NI Credits that count towards a full State Pension, for the Support Group, you will receive back payment from week 14 and your ESA(CB) will be put back into payment from the day it stopped, the 365 day clock will also be reset to zero.
