ESA Contribution or Income Based query was created by tinybruk
Hi, just passed ESA re-assessment without medical last week (no indication of the timescale b4 re-assessment stated in letter!), and remain in support group. Contribution based.
This means I wont get any disability premiums when I switch to PIP from DLA & get my care component reinstated!
Should I ask to switch to Income based ESA?

Also should I ask to switch from DLA to PIP now? as the ESA award is so new

You won't be switched to Income Related ESA but you may be eligible for an ESA(IR) top-up to your existing ESA(CB), this will dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See

Asset rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

If you think that you qualify then you need to ask the DWP for an ESA3 form which captures information about your financial situation.
