Mandatory Reconsideration for PIP - how detailed?

Hi all,

I'm just about to ask for a mandatory reconsideration on my PIP decision (awarded standard care / mobility) as I (& my consultant) believe I should easily score enough for enhanced on both.

I've downloaded all of the guides you've written for appeals process and appealing based on medical assessments, which are brilliant, but I just have one small question - how much detail should I put into my mandatory reconsideration letter? I have received a copy of my medical report, and it really is laughable - should I go into all the areas where I should have scored more like in your sample appeal submissions at this stage, or save it for the almost inevitable appeal?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

You'll only receive an award by showing that you meet the criteria to score sufficient points for one so this should be the primary area of your focus, I'm not saying to ignore the report but the best you will get by showing that it is not fit for purpose is another face to face.

As to how much information to put into your MR. Turnover rates at MR are very low but they do happen but only if you put the work in, nothing that you submit at MR is wasted if you have to go on to appeal. It is a strategy to provide only minimal information for the MR so that it is dealt with quickly and you can appeal, but be aware it could easily be 3-4 months before a hearing, so you must consider how well you will manage in the interim.
