9 months.....Doesn't bode well! was created by Hippyginger
Having seen a lady with one prosthetic leg on BBC Breakfast this morning telling how she's also lost her motability car because the DWP have decided that she CAN walk, (irrespective of the pain and discomfort her prosthetic leg can cause thus limiting the amount of time she can use it and go back in her wheelchair), I've got a sinking feeling re my hoping for an MR to amend my own mobility component or even for an appeal.

Especially as the poor lady said that she's currently been waiting 9 MONTHS for her appeal! I have to say that this doesn't bode well for the rest of us does it. Poor woman not only had to leave her job because there was no way of getting to it without a car, but she's also moved home so that she can stand, (no pun intended), a better chance to find local employment as she doesn't want to have to rely on benefits and I don't blame her.

The only 'upside' to this lady's case is that should she be successful and once again be able to get a motability vehicle, she will have course have been off the scheme for more than the six months they say you have to be off of it before they'll consider having you back on it ;)

Heaven help us all.

I didn't see the programme on breakfast but I did watch the episode of Inside Out which was on this evening and was absolutely disgusted. I think one of the gentlemen was right in his opinion that until this happens to a member of parliament, then there will be no changes made.

It seems that the government are happy to make cuts regardless of the repercussions on many people. How on earth can the lady who needs an adapted vehicle with steering wheel 'foot pedal' buttons be classed as not 'disabled' enough to qualify? As you said, the artificial limbs that people use are an aid, the same as any walking stick or crutches yet are apparently not classed as one? Ridiculous.
