Hi I new to posting in the forum although I have been a member since August 2016. This site helped me with my claim for PIP, for which I was successful. I thank you
I need some advice from you guys now please.
I am about to move in with my boyfriend, who has RR REM MS and is receiving ESA Contribution in the support group, with severe disability component. He also receives PIP, CB and HB.
I receive ESA Contributions in the support group, I too get PIP. I have a nine and a half year old Daughter for whom I get child benefit.
What I would like to know is, can we continue to make our individual claims as we are both in the support group on contributions based ESA, or do we have to make a joint claim for ESA?
Also can we both continue to claim our individual PIP allowance?
Lots of questions, my apologies. Thank you

I am going to recommend that you get face to face advice to understand what you will both receive if you move in together.

Housing Benefit will definitely be effected.

Although you say that your boyfriend is receiving ESA(CB), you mention that he is also receiving a "severe disability component", if this is as I suspect the Severe Disability Premium, then he is at the least receiving an ESA(IR) top-up and this will be effected. The SDP may remain in payment but it will depend on whether you have a PIP Daily Living award.

As you can see the answer is quire complicated and you need someone to go through everything and calculate what you will receive which we can't do on the forum.

Try using the benefit calculator "entitled to " may give you a better understanding

I appreciate your reply in this matter and I think I ought to perhaps get in touch with CAB and his MS nurse too to see if she can help.

Thank you

I think that is a good idea in the short term. However we would prefer a more definitive answer before we do embark on the act of giving up one of our homes. I will take a look at it now.

Thank you:-)

Thank you
