I can only speak from previous personal experience.

Both my partner and I are on ESA Contribution based and in the support group
At one point we were both on DLA, middle rate care and lower rate mobility

Although we are not currently receiving an income related top up to ESA due to a change in circumstances, we had received this top up in the past.

When we were receiving the (IR) ESA top up, because we were both in the Support Group, both receiving DLA, we received a Couple Rate of severe disability Premium
We were also receiving full council tax and Mortgage Interest Relief.

Both of our ESA claims were separate, it's just my partner for a time received an Income related top up which he claimed for us both.

Hope that makes sense

Hi Peter

I have no dealings with DLA so it is a little confusing for me. I and my b/f are both in receipt of PIP, mine a new claim, his a change over, for which he had enhanced mobility and this got knocked down to standard on PIP. He then ended up on the same level as he was on on DLA for living, and that was/is standard.

We just don't know what we will get as his MS Nurse is next to useless, we live in an area where unless we travel the CAB only visit for 3 hours once a week!!!

I need to make sure that we know what we are going to get before we do move in so that we are financially secure and stable. We need to be stress free as this is a major contributing factor to MS and relapses.

As you have a child you may also get tax credits. Or universal credit - if you don't already. You can do a tax credits calculator online or they do online chat with you. I'm not so sure about universal credit but maybe CAB could advise also.
