DLA conversion to PIP was created by Christine
I have a family history of Asthma made worse by the new NHS and their wonder dugs during the first years of my life. The first piece of paper in my GP record is when I am 6 years old and a consultant is explaining that "this child has Bronchiectasis". I was not told this until I was in my 50's I assumed I had bronchial asthma.
In 2001 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, eventually renamed as a meningioma, however I did have my head cut open to remove it. Following this I was informed I needed DLA and a Blue Badge.
Early in 2016 my DLA situation was reviewed. I had no one to accompany me however my GP did supply a supporting letter. The interview was one to one and lasted one and a half hours I left feeling totally exhausted.
I duly received a letter stating that yes I could have PIP but as I do not use a walking stick or a wheel chair I do not need a Blue Badge which was actually on the point of expiry.
Given my lung test states I only have 48% functionality while I can't walk further than one mile I do need that badge but have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Hi
Im wondering if you have had a letter from blue badge company to renew your blue badge?
Thats what they do with mine, about 4 weeks before its due to run out i get a form in the post fill it in and return it with the photo they ask me for.
I would look up who supplied your blue badge and call them and get a form to fill out.
As far as i know the DWP can't stop you re applying for your badge, as it's up to the assessor that gets the claim form to decide..most of the time if nothing has changed they re issue a new one for 3 yrs i think.
Good luck to you))

Unfortunately when I retired I moved town so I can not easily return to the Blue badge source. My Badge was within 4 weeks of expiry and I have never received a reminder. Nor has the new resident at my old address.
However I received a suggestion from a friend. Every year I have a medical carried out by the Practice Nurse at my GP surgery, ( I call it my annual MOT!). Since it started my breathing function has changed from 54% to 48% and last year the Nurse said the maximum walking distance would be 1 mile.
I did get a GP letter for the initial PIP application and the suggestion is a letter detailing the lung function could now be taken to the new council office which issues Blue Badges.
