Hi everyone.
Well Im writing to let you know that the plp assessment we had was just awful.
My husband had to go for the 1st assessment on the 28th December at 08.15am.
We were on time, and waited until 08.30 when a man pulled up and opened the doors.
We went in and it was a freezing cold office and the guy was cross because he was late into work because of an accident on the motorway!
A lady then walked in and they had no computers working at all and they said they would have to do the assessments on paper only. (they were not happy at all).
The other couple got called in to a room, and a few minutes later we were called in.
WELL this guy was moaning about the way they were late for work and that the computers were down.
We where asked this by the assessor 1) What do you have? 2) blow into this tube please.
3) what do you do in your spare time?
That was IT!!! we were in there no more than 4 minuets and told to go????
He then produced a statement of what he thought about my husbands claim total lies all of it, and my husband went from high rate of DLA to Standard rate of plp. and had written ''for a period of time'' whats that mean?!
We the appealed this and our social worker stepped in to do the appeal for him.
We got the letter back that it stayed the same, and that my husbands change in circumstances i;e doubled care hours, and major falls spitting hid head open to his skull 3 times was NOT considered as any change?
We have now gone to appeal at the courts by letters only as my husbands not well enough to attend, thats gone off today through a social worker and letters from his GP and consultant letters, we hope this will be enough evidence for them to change it, we will see.
I'm so ANGRY with the assessor, who wrote the report and basically lied his way through the notes saying things that were on his doctors notes, that are not even written on them.
I have now reported this guy as it's just not good enough really.. the stress is just awful. Has anyone else had this problem at all? All i can say is we will fight to the end for this to be changed, and even with all the professional people we have involved we hope it will change...all i can say to you all is FIGHT IT ALL THE WAY, they don't care these assessors and have no medical training at all. I would have explained it all to him had he have given us the chance but we didn't get that.
So be warned all out there this sort of thing happens and it needs to stop NOW!
Thanks for reading me note and ill update you when we get a reply...))
