Hi

What you signed was probably acknowledgement of your consultant's report that you handed in.
I had to sign too, as I handed in extra information on the assessment day. It is a good thing, as the MP can't deny that you gave them a report to be included in your claim.

All the best to you

It could be that..but I'm sure I had already given them permission when I filled in the review form..would they need to ask again?

Also wouldn't she have had to tell me that's what I was signing..she only said it was so she could send the report off..she made no mention of my GP.

It that legal?

My partner remembers her coming out of the room to ask the receptionist for the form, he couldn't hear her clearly as the radio was on...but says it sounded like P something form ? If that makes any sense?

June

Forgive me but I can't think of a better way of putting this, they probably assumed you would read it. Sorry.

Not to worry Gordon, I absolutely should have read it.

It's just I suffer from anxiety and social phobia anyway and what with the stress from the assessment , my anxiety was sky high and I just wanted to get out of there.

Well I received my assessment report today and while some of it was accurate , there was quite a bit that seemed to be entirely made up...there were some outright lies.

All of my mental health issues were completely ignored, even though she noted my high level of medication.

It looked like my award was going to be reduced to standard care ..I was reading the report in tears..not because of the money , more because of the lies being told , that's what really upset me..when the phone rang. It was a decision maker calling about my claim...perfect timing.
She said she needed to ask a question regarding my mobility..just about the date I started to get worse..after that I asked the DM about the lies in my assessment report..

Things the HCP reported that she had asked me...but hadn't
Things the HCP claimed I'd said..when I hadn't
Tests the HCP claimed to have done..but didn't..

After repeatedly being told that they have to go by what the HCP says in their report and the usual " they are trained professionals' argument...I finally broke down.

The DM said to leave it with her...she rang me back to say my award was being put back to enhanced rate care ..I was also being awarded standard rate mobility now.
Obviously I'm relieved , to say the least..but now I'm thinking if I should make a complaint about the nurse who assessed me over the lies in her report.

Would it effect my award? Is there any point in complaining? They shouldn't be allowed to get away with lying.

Hi June,

I am glad you eventually got the award you should have - but sorry about your experience with the assessment report.

If people don't complain, the assessment providers and DWP can rightly say that they are not aware of any problems. It might not change anything if you do complain but at least you will know they have been told!

You can complain to the assessment provider and the assessor's professional body. This will not have any bearing on the decision that has been made.

You could also let your MP know how you have been treated.
