Face to face assessment was created by Ashanti
After making my first claim for pip i received the dreaded white envelope from Capita requesting me to attend a face to face assessment. The appointment was for 2 weeks in advance, but on further reading realised that they wanted me to travel 20 miles to Coventry. I called them the following day told them that it was too far for me to travel ( which i think was a ploy by them as if i could travel on a bus/train or car for 30+ minutes then obviously my disability is not that bad as i said ) i was told that there were no available appointments in my area for a while, but after being very persistent was put on hold when she came back was told that they could offer me an appointment in my area but it would have to be in 3 days on the Monday. At first i refused as it was too short notice but in the end i took it as i was not prepared to travel to coventry.

It really is hard to know what to do for the best isn't it?

Sadly, my contact/caseworker from Action For Blind People cannot come with me to the assessment as their local branch of Action has a major all day meeting going on, due to changes taking place within the organisation.

I "could" cancel but dad has agree to take me there and back. However, I'll be going in on my own. Not great but at least I've got assistance to get there and return home.

Hope it does go ok. At least it'll be over and done with. Make sure, if you can, that they understand what you're telling them. That they get the problems of mobility and everyday living you face.
