Doctors Letter - Private please... was created by Loubs
Hello,

I wondered if it would be possible for one of the admins to have a read through my doctors letter please and see if you think that it is ok and that it covers what I need it to?

Along with the conditions listed at the top of the letter, I also have Chronic Depression (not 'Low Mood' !) Extreme Anxiety and Asthma which I will ask her to add on.

Many thanks for your time,

Louise

The most obvious thing that stands out is that they say you would "struggle" to attend, I don't think this is a strong enough phrase to get a home assessment with any certainty. The reference to your hospital visits also doesn't help.

Also and it is common for GP's to do this and very annoying, they use the phrase "the patient tells me"! It's cop out and allows them to dodge taking responsibility for what they say and as a consequence devalues the letter, why they can't ask their patients how they are affected I don't know, unless they think us all liable to exaggeration!

Rant over.

Thank you Gordon. Could you please remove the letter from the post as it was supposed to be just private ;)

Many thanks for your reply.

Ahhh, I've just realised that the letter part wasn't public. Apologies!

Should I ask for the letter to be rewritten taking out the 'she tells me' parts or is that simply what I have to accept?

I will ask her to change the bottom bit to could not attend at an assessment centre.

I've paid £25, the least she could do is take responsibility for her words!

You can ask, but I would be surprised if they change the "she tells me", although you could ask how you can engage with them in a more sensible manner to avoid this type of phrase being moved.

Thank you Gordon.

I'll explain, as you've said, that it devalues the letter and ask if there is a way of her sounding more convinced for me ;)

One week wasted, now another week minimum wait for a retype. I love doctors
