Contribution ESA - Support Group

Hi,

Can anyone advise me on this question. Recently, I attended a face to face medical to move from DLA to PIP. I am still awaiting the results.

Yesterday, I received a letter DWP headed 'We are reviewing your benefit claim'. I am in the support group of the contribution ESA, and it is indefinite award. I rang the number given at the end of the letter, the person I needed to speak with was not in the office.

The person who answered the phone said that she did not know why I had been asked to attend a meeting at the jobcentre, and to produce bank statements, savings, pension provider, details of owning any property, land apart from the home I live in, and evidence of immigration status.

I was then asked if I was receiving Housing benefit, which I do not receive, she seemed surprised when I said 'no'. The lady then said I will have ring back on Monday to speak with the person at the bottom of the letter.

I was also retired from my employment by my employers under tier 1 ill health. I am worried that DWP may stop my ESA, which helps pay my mortgage, without it I would struggle to pay it.

I am not able to work because of my disability, and would have to pay back my lump sum pension award, which I do not have anymore. I used it to pay my debts.

Is it normal for DWP to request this meeting?

Also, I thought Contribution ESA was not seen as qualifying for social benefit funds. Therefore, I am not receiving any benefits?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Did T.May. Not declare in the House of Commons which I watch every day that :- support Group ESA and PIP does not have to be reassessed regardless of which one contribution or income based.
