Doctor's Surgery Trickery was created by Steve Blue
I received a newsletter a few months ago, and have a vague recollection of a letter that mentioned the DWP working within doctor's surgeries. Was I imagining this?

My dad visited his doctors today assuming he was having his ears syringed (this didn't happen). I spoke to him about an hour ago to see how he got on and was alarmed at what I heard. My dad no longer claims ESA as he's now well into retirement, but he does still claim DLA. He hasn't been 'invited' to claim PIP yet.

My dad was asked if he could pick up a coin off the table and put it into a cup. He was asked to do it with both hands. Though his coordination could be better he managed this test. He was also asked whether he has trouble concentrating during appointments. And he has to go back again tomorrow and on Friday.

Were these tests/questions related to his ear issues? I'd like to think so. Maybe they're part of a test relating to the ear, as balance and coordination can sometimes be affected by ear issues. My dad's state of mind could be better, so he thought nothing of it. But as soon as he mentioned what had happened I felt ill. As I had to help my dad with previous ESA forms/DWP issues in the passed I was certain there were questions on picking up coins/objects and other questions of concentration. I might be wrong, and I hope I am. That someone could be tested or questioned by the DWP without even being aware of it seems out of line.

Does this ring any bells? Sorry to be vague - I just had to query something before he goes back again tomorrow.

King regards -

There were suggestions of doing this but it was aimed at employees who were going sick to basically try and reduced the time that they were off.

I don't believe that there was any intention to include existing ESA claimants and of course your father no longer claims this anyway.

Cheers.

My dad does still claims DLA...

But from what you said, I'm guessing the questions were completely innocent.
