DLA Claimants Turning Age 65 was created by lesley
I know that once a claimant is over 65 and on D.L.A. they can no longer claim a higher rate for mobility, from low mobility even if their mobility worsens.
I thought that I read the same for P.I.P. that if a claimant at 65 only gets standard rate mobility that it is no longer possible for that claimant to increase to enhanced rate of mobility even if their mobility worsens, (once over the age of 65)
Was doing some research and I read this on a D.W.P. document entitled.
Wondered what to make of it as am a bit confused.

We have also added an important safeguard which means that anyone being assessed for the first time for PIP who at the time when they are assessed is aged 65 or over will be able to access the daily living and the mobility component of PIP at either the standard or the enhanced rate without the normal age restrictions applying.
This means that some people may be able to access the mobility component for the first time, even if they were aged 65 or over at the point they are assessed.
