No she didn't I asked her if she knew she was entitled and she had no idea? I asked Gordan about it as I was sure she met the criteria. Xx

Thanks for the information we worked the dates out when when pip was given.

1/08/16 she was on Esa contribution based support group at the time.

Please can you help

As this is so complicated, My friend again her advisor told her that she would be better off applying for contribution based esa to start off because she was still receiving half pay from her employer until she was was terminated on [12th August 2016] I was wondering if she could claim the EDP and get that backdated to 12/8/16 or 13 wks after after that 6,months she only had her assement rate esa to live on no salary l think she could she gone onto income based.
Only the support group premium was backdated to October
Am I right in thinking as soon as your in the support group you become entitled to the EDP or is more complicated. She had no earnings for 3 months. of her assement phase esa.

Many Thanks Cx

Poor advice from the advisor I'm afraid, perpetuating the myth the ESA is two benefits when it is actually one.

First of I need to correct you. the Support Group and WRAG components are not Premiums.

If they ticked the box for a CB only claim then the DWP may argue that no backdating can occur as the claimant took a specific decision not to claim ESA(IR), however they have nothing to lose by trying.

Entitlement to the Enhanced Disability Premium is indeed enabled by a claimant being placed in the SG, this would have been from the beginning of week 14 of their claim or when their pay dropped below £15 a week (approximately), which ever was the later.

They need to ask the DWP for an ESA3 form to provide information about their current financial status and try and get it back dated.
