Home visit was created by Polly
We have been told we are getting a home visit next week by a PIP assessor.
Can you advise me as to what happens in a home visit. i.e. do they ask to see around my home, do they examine my husband?
If there is a link explaining what happens can you please send it to me as I have been unable to find one.
Thanks
Polly

There's a section at the back of the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Polly
Home asessment is nothing to be scared of. The HP will not want to look around your home. There are things to be aware of though. You and your husband are used to managing in your own environment. The HP will observe how things affect the activies that can be carried out and try to place you into the nearest box (descriptor ) to being able to complete the activity. Don't make any special effort, you don't need to impress the HP, let them see you as you are ,warts and all. Many people with long term conditions and supportive partners overlook the small compensations they make on a daily basis and take for granted. Let the HP see what can/cannot be done, not what you think can be done.
